The Whatcom County Coalition for the Homeless (WCCH) is a consortium of public and private agencies and non-profits that collaborate to work towards a system of housing and services that seamlessly moves homeless families and individuals to permanent housing and self-sufficiency. This concept is called Continuum of Care (CoC). The WCCH meets monthly to network services, provide public information forums, and to address the community’s homeless issues as they arise. Staff from the Community Development Division chairs the Coalition, providing leadership, coordination, and administrative support, and works with agencies to secure federal homeless housing and service program grants.

Services

Opportunity Council
Whatcom: (360) 734-5121
The Opportunity Council is a local Community Action Agency serving homeless and low-income families, children, seniors and people with disabilities. Our programs work to create positive change, both in the lives of the people we serve and in our community. Our programs range from helping people in crisis with immediate needs to addressing long-term support. We shelter people who are homeless, feed people who are hungry, prepare young children for school, provide a messaging services for people who don’t have a phone, help keep people safe and warm through the winter, and more.
